چکیده
Rock engineering occupies an important position in the 21st century. In face of rock disasters, we are only looking for essential problems through experiments on rocks, but cannot be realized large numbers, so article uses numerical simulation software RFPA (Realistic Failure Process Analysis) 2D Basic to simulate under different size conditions numerically. this paper, a model with diameter 50 mm is used research. Meanwhile, five calculation models height-to-diameter ratios 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3 used. Through calculation, find that failure more than complicated when value ratio exceedingly low (1), as increases, mode will become simpler. The stress-concentrated form axial failure. When increases (1.5–2), other damage cracks appear basis cleavage As continues increase (about 2.5), shear occurs. reaches relatively high level (3), there both rip damage. oversize, end

Investigating the Effect of Specimen Diameter Size on Uniaxial Compressive Strength and Elastic Properties of Travertines
Uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and elastic properties of rocks play a major and vital role for the design of any engineering structure. The specimen diameter size is one of the main factors that influencing on UCS, elasticity modulus and Poisson’s ratio (E and υ). Here, an attempt has been made to investigate the effect of specimen diameter size on UCS, E and υ. Moreover, we studied the co...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Using the Point Load Test to Determine the Uniaxial Compressive Strength of Coal Measure Rock
Point load testing is used to determine rock strength indexes in geotechnical practice. The point load test apparatus and procedure enables economical testing of core or lump rock samples in either a field or laboratory setting. In order to estimate uniaxial compressive strength, index-to-strength conversion factors are used. These factors have been proposed by various researchers and are depen...
